Who we are - and why!

One Trick Pony Greeting Cards is the result of horse owner Beti Spangel’s slightly warped sense of humor, and the fact that she wasn’t finding the types of cards she wanted in her local tack stores. Utilizing her daughter Jessica Jones’ visual communications degree from Cazenovia College for formatting and design, Beti began the card line with a handful of old photos and some funny one-liners. Over 30 years of horse ownership (mostly good, a little bad, and a tiny bit ugly) has resulted in a realistic and somewhat satirical view of life with the most endlessly entertaining of backyard “pets” - horses.

Located on “the hill” in Schroon Lake, NY, One Trick Pony aims to amuse and entertain its audience (and maybe even pay for this year’s hay). It is spurred on by the acknowledgement that horse people have great senses of humor and truly love their animals. If you are fortunate enough to have a horse in your life, you know that life with one is never dull.

One Trick Pony’s mascots are 26-year-old Quarter Horse gelding Casanova, and 24-year-old one-eyed Appaloosa mare Gingersnap. Although they could care less about greeting cards, the folks at One Trick Pony do, and hope you enjoy sending and receiving their cards as much as they do making them.
